WHAT REMAINS OF BURKE AND HARE
In 1827, Edinburgh was a fast growing city in the midst of its own intellectual enlightenment. Medical students would flock from around the world to study with the famed anatomists who taught there. However, due to Scottish law, there weren’t enough legally attainable cadavers for the anatomists to demonstrate on. Enter William Burke and William Hare, two enterprising Irish immigrants who chanced upon a new way of sourcing cadavers: murder. Thus began the unholy alliance between Burke, Hare, and Dr. Robert Knox, which resulted in the murders of at least 16 people.
With a book by BT Hayes and a score by Asher Muldoon, this new horror-comedy musical reanimates these two Edinburgh bogeymen, as well as the grotesque cast of characters that surround them. Listen to some demos below!
