MIDDLE SCHOOL ELECTION: THE MUSICAL!

The Idea for Middle School Election came from a scene that Sammy and I did in an improv class. It featured an alcoholic 7th grader named Chip and a bunch of super energetic candidates all vying for total control over their school. When we heard about FNAM's Show Search Competition (which produces 10 minute musicals by high school and college aged composers) we decided to expand that idea into a full story.

We had a great time creating the world this election takes place in, and poking fun at our own middle school experiences. It was also our first time ever staging something we had written (click here to see the recording we sent in, featuring some of our friends).

Anyhow, we won the high school category that year. We got flown out to California and stayed at UC Irvine for a week, ate lots of In-N-Out Burger, got to workshop our show and see it professionally staged.
